A Lamp for the Path
What does faithfulness look like when the story is still unfinished?

I wrote these pages from inside the valley, not from the safety of the other side. If your heart is weary, uncertain, or broken, I would be honored to walk a little of this road beside you.
A PERSONAL INVITATION
A Note from My Heart
I wish I could tell you that I wrote this book from the other side of the valley, with every question answered and every broken piece neatly restored. But that would not be true. I wrote it while I was still learning how to find my footing in a life that had become painfully unfamiliar.
A Lamp for the Path was born from the heartbreak of betrayal, the ache of unanswered prayers, and the difficult work of learning to trust God when I could no longer see where the road was leading. There were days when I wanted a map, an explanation, or simply some assurance that I would recognize my life again. What I found instead was the presence of a Father who had not left me, even when I could scarcely understand what He was doing.
If you are a woman walking through a valley of your own, I want you to know that you do not have to arrive at these pages strong, certain, composed, or even hopeful. You may be grieving a marriage, carrying questions about your future, learning to pray through tears, or simply trying to make it through another ordinary day while your heart feels anything but ordinary.
I cannot promise that your story will unfold like mine. I would never presume to tell you what faithfulness must look like in circumstances I have not lived. But I can invite you to walk beside me as we seek the One who meets us in the shadows. This is not a book about pretending the darkness is less real than it is. It is about discovering that His light can be real there, too.
And perhaps somewhere along the way, as we learn to carry the light we have been given, we will discover that we were never meant to walk alone.
From the Pages
From the Introduction · The Warm Light in the Dark
If someone had told me during my darkest moment that I would one day be sitting here sharing this journey with you, I would not have believed them. The story you are about to read is not tidy. It is not wrapped in a bow or crowned with easy answers. It was written in the valley, in that in-between place where life fractures and God meets you in the middle of what you never imagined you would carry.
My own valley began the day I discovered that my husband had been unfaithful. The way it came to light was sudden and painfully public, and the shock left me reeling. Our son was still so young, and the timing made the blow feel even heavier. In a matter of hours, the pain within our marriage was visible to people beyond our home, and the ground beneath me seemed to give way.
I believed I understood what had happened and thought I was standing in the aftermath of the whole truth, grieving the full weight of what had been broken. The story I was trying to make sense of was still larger than I could see, and I would learn some of its truth in layers.
I will not linger on the details here, because this story is not about reducing a person I have shared so much of my life with to his worst choices, but about acknowledging the painful consequences of those choices and the work God was doing in me when everything I believed I knew fell apart. That moment, when trust shattered and confusion filled the space it left behind, became the doorway into a valley where I would have to seek God’s heart without being able to trust my own reading of the road ahead.
I remember the quiet of the house that night, the kind that arrives after the day ends and the world goes to sleep. Our son was resting in the next room, his breathing slow and even in the peaceful rhythm that belongs only to children who have not yet learned how fragile life can feel. I had spent the day moving through a haze of disbelief, my mind turning over the truth I had discovered as if examining it from every angle might somehow make it less real. Each hour felt suspended between shock and sorrow, between the instinct to fight for what I loved and the growing awareness that something within our marriage had broken in ways I could not yet name, and by the time night covered the house the weight of it all had grown too heavy for me to keep carrying while standing.
